Tuesday 30th November

PicaPica & Camille Delean

THE NEST COLLECTIVE IS RUN BY PROMOTER AND MERCURY PRIZE NOMINATED MUSICIAN SAM LEE.

EACH MONTHLY SHOWCASE FOCUSES ON BRITISH AND WORLD FOLK MUSIC WITHIN THE CONTEMPORARY MUSIC SCENE.

One for sorrow and two for joy. PicaPica features the vocal interplay of Josienne Clarke and Samantha Whates, dual front women who create powerful harmonies atop layers of texture created by Adam Beattie & Sonny Johns, a tiding of magpies picking shiny moments of tone and timbre from 60s west coast, sunshine pop and indie folk.

Singer-songwriter Camille Delean mixes restrained rhythms, ankle-deep piano, weaving guitars. Wind-riding vocals navigate, pedal steel and violin hover. The music is deliberately subtle; firmly rooted in traditional song, but unafraid to veer off the trodden path.
